Sleep. After sleeping through the night from a couple of weeks old, Jack decided, at around 5 months, that this was no longer needed and has, for the last couple of months, terrorised us until the early hours of the morning, no matter what we try to do. We kept thinking it was his teeth, however there is still no sign of any, so we were a little lost. Then suddenly, he has started sleeping through again (the majority of the time - don't want to jinx it too much!). He does wake up quite early in the morning, full of beans, and I will admit that I am reluctant to leave my bed, but its amazing what you can get done in the morning after a good nights sleep. I'm really enjoying being able to sleep for just that little bit longer.

People in general. For all our faults as human beings, this week I discovered that the majority of us aren't half bad, you know! From personal issues (see Loathe for more information) where people have offered all kinds of help, to receiving compliments from people I hardly know, I have been left with a smile by the kindness of most of the human race.

Illness & hospitals. As I mentioned yesterday, my dad had a fall this past week because of a dizzy spell, and after we forced him to go to the doctor, we found out it was diabetes. He also got an infection in his foot and had to be admitted to hospital. I went to see him yesterday and it wasn't a very nice sight, he certainly doesn't look well and he's being pumped full of antibiotics and insulin. He'll know more about when he's able to come home after seeing the doctor today. Add to the equation Steve's mum having an operation and you can guess I'm a little sick of seeing hospitals this week (and their ridiculous car parking prices!), I've been worrying about everyone like mad! Then to top it off, yesterday evening I found out that my mums cousin (who we are quite close to) is seriously ill in the same hospital my dad is in...with cancer. I didn't even know he had it and what makes it more upsetting is the fact that his dad (my great uncle) lost his wife a couple of months back and looks set to lose his son...the outcome doesn't look great. Cancer has taken far too many of my family and affected plenty of them too (see this post here for more information) and I just wish it would disappear forever.  But don't we all?

  1. Ah hun I'm so sorry you're having a tough time...there's nothing I'd like more than to see cancer eradicated, well, I'd have liked it to be eradicated before it took my dad :( I hope you can find all the strength you need to take you through the next few weeks and months...and as ever, there's an ear here if you need one xx

  3. I'm so sorry about your Dad and your poor cousin. Diabetes is a horrible disease and having lost my Mum to cancer two years ago know how vile it is, too. xxx
