As a first-time mum, you can imagine that sometimes my energy levels are in short supply. I have been left some days feeling totally fatigued and even asked my doctor about it, who assured me it was just me adjusting to life as a mother. I was constantly being nagged by various family members and friends to incorporate some multi-vitamins into my daily routine, so when I was offered the chance to review the Healthspan Energex Plus*, I thought it would be a worthwhile trial to see if some little tablets really can make me feel that much better.
I must tell you now that I was a little dubious about these at the beginning; I've tried various vitamins and supplements over the years (my Dad & Nan are huge advocates of them) and I have never really noticed any difference.
The tablets contain Advanced Guarana, Panex Ginseng, Amino Acid and B Vitamin Complex. All relatively natural and good for you and your body, so thumbs up there! They come in a neat cardboard box with a booklet-style package, containing the tablets. A box contains 60 tablets, so each booklet holds 30. They are around the width and diameter of a normal paracetamol tablet, so should be easy to swallow for most people - except me! I am a nightmare for swallowing tablets and had to break these in half before swallowing them; something which I don't think is recommended as the tablet itself becomes quite crumbly.
The recommended guidelines state that just one should be taken daily, unless you really needed to increase your alertness, in which case you could take two.
I kept to the recommended guidelines and just took one per day, which I have been doing for the past month.
Have I noticed an increase in my energy levels? Yes, I have - I'm much more eager to get things done, rather than just sitting down whenever I get a spare moment. My life recently has consisted of full-time parenting whilst also trying to arrange work after maternity leave and helping to look after various family members, all whilst trying to keep the house looking spick+span and blogging too! I can only imagine how I'll feel when I go back to work, which is why I have stopped taking these for a few weeks, to see if they help me keep energised and alert when I'm back at work.
Would I recommend these? Yes, but perhaps not for those in a similar situation to me-it would have to be a personal, well thought out choice. This would perhaps be more suited to someone who has a very energetic lifestyle; I'm talking full-time work, a family, the gym and various other commitments. Although I am currently at home on maternity leave, it sometimes feels like I myself am battling to juggle things like that!
Where can I buy them and how much do they cost? They sell for £8.95 on the Healthspan website here.
Do you take any supplements to keep your energy levels up? Or perhaps you use supplements to benefit your skin?
If only they sold these in America! My energy is very low and how I would kill to have the energy of a 5 yr old. Great post btw <3 .

I'm not sure if they ship to America, it might be worth taking a look at the website?xo
DeleteI have to take iron supplements because I'm anaemic and I try to take Omega 3 when I remember to keep the brain cells ticking over. I also tend to take general vitamin supplements when I remember to, because being a student I inevitably don't feed myself properly to get all of the nutrients I need! This sounds like something that would be so useful to me, my anaemia makes me so lethargic all the time! x
