Today, I have a lovely guest post from the brilliant Emma from My Pretty Mummy. I have been a loyal reader of Emma's blog from when I was pregnant and we were going through the same experiences. After Jack was born, I continued reading her blog awaiting the arrival of her baby. Now Alice is nearly 5 months old and how beautiful is she? She is absolutely gorgeous! Jack agrees too, he keeps on ga-ga and goo-gooing over Alice's pictures! Cute!

Hi, I'm Emma and I write a blog called My Pretty Mummy! My daughter Alice is nearly 5 months old now, and is growing up way too fast. I love watching her grow and it is amazing how quickly it all happens. I still can’t believe she can roll over now!
I thought I would do a post on the 10 things I have learned about being a mummy, since becoming one!
I thought I would do a post on the 10 things I have learned about being a mummy, since becoming one!
1. It doesn’t always come naturally. Sure, some days I feel really confident with Alice, like I know exactly what she wants all the time. But some days, I haven’t got a clue! Nappy, food, cuddles?! Being a mum does not make you an expert on being a mum!
2. You will find your own baby HILARIOUS! Seriously, I genuinely believe that Alice is the funniest baby on the planet. From the strange noises, silly faces and crazy movements.
3. I get as excited about 2 for 1 pampers as I do seeing a shoe sale. 2 for 1!! Arghhhh!!!
4. Humans don’t really need as much sleep as I thought they did! I was so used to sleeping for like, 11 hours a night that I thought I would fall apart if I didn’t get it. But 6 hours now feels like a lie in!

5. I STILL LIKE THE SAME THINGS! I read fashion magazines, get excited over a new hair product, dream of owning everything in Topshop! I haven’t gotten myself a mums haircut, or started knitting or even started cutting coupons for washing powder out of mums weekly magazine!
6.I can’t help obsessing over Alice’s poo! Haha! Seriously, it’s the only way to tell if your baby is really ok (apparently), so I’m always obsessing if it’s too runny, too hard, too smelly. Well… it’s always too smelly!
7. Talking of smelly bodily fluids, I really don’t care anymore! Baby sick, poo, dribble. None of it bothers me anymore.
8. Baby toys are fun, and when babies go to bed mummies and daddies play with them. Ok, well, we do! Puppets are hilarious, especially after a cheeky glass of wine!
9. It’s hard to think about getting back into shape. When I was pregnant I would roll my eyes at mums who still hadn’t got back into shape a year after their baby was born. Now, I understand why. There are too many more important things to think about, like seeing baby smile, or laugh. But I will get back into shape, one day!
10. Being a mummy is the hardest job in the world. It is intense and there are no breaks. Even if you get an hour to yourself, you still spend the time wondering how your little one is. But it is most definitely worth it!

How lovely is this post? I wholeheartedly agree with everything Emma says above. I think Jacks is the cheekiest, most happy chappy in the world and I too get excited over deals on Pampers!
Are you a mum? What things have you learnt?

Ahh such a cute little lady :) I'll join u in the nappy excitement, even worse now I've two to buy for!!! Becoming a mama taught me that true friends are worth their weight in gold, thank god for friends who'll chase your littlie through the soft play centre so you can drink a cuppa in peace!x
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cute post - and what a gorgeous baba!
ReplyDeleteTo add to the nappy excitement - my sister came over and presented me with a massive box of size 4s for Aiden that her friend no longer needed. FREE NAPPIES PEOPLE.
